見てチェック
1.鏡の前に立ち、乳房の形や乳頭の向きなどを確認する。乳ガンのできやすい場所は、乳頭の上下からわきの下にかけての間。しかし、それ以外の場所もじっくり観察すること。

2.次に両手を高く上げ、乳房のどこかにかすかな「ひきつれ」がないかを確認。腕を上げたまま身体を左右にひねったりして同じように「ひきつれ」がないかを確認。

触ってチェック
1.最初は上半身を起こした状態で、次に腕を上げた状態で触る。乳房が大きい場合、仰向けに寝てやると乳房が平べったい状態になるためチェックしやすい。

2.乳頭を指先でつまみ根元付近を痛くない程度にしぼる。このとき血の混じった茶色の分泌液が出ないかを確認。

3.次に人差し指、中指、薬指３本の指の腹で、乳房の表面全体を軽くなで、しこりがないかを確認。しこりがあると盛り上がった感じや、冷たく硬い感じが指先に伝わる。痛みはない。
